Good Morning,

I need to get a WPT risk assessment done by the end of July and cant seem to find a good template to get this started, would anyone have one and mind sharing with me please, its a small site with 2 FLT, a telescopic loader and MEWP here full time, also need to consider pedestrians and visitors coming on site.

Thanks,

Torres

Isn't there one at the back of HSG136?

Yup

I started with the HSG136 Checklist, then on a site plan drew all the traffic streams and where they all cross to priorities high risk areas.
Then used a standard 5 step RA form with the headings, Safe Site, Safe Vehicle, Safe People.

CCTV was a great help to see how drivers behaved (especially out of hours :) ) This footage got cyclists banned from site!

Job done :)

Teh, that means they dismount as soon as they arrive on site, right?

No we sacked them all :)

yeah, we provided a cycle shed at one site entrance, they could ride to this but then had to walk to place of work. A suitable facility was provided to allow for issues such as changing shoes and safe dry storage for bikes.

The CCTV showed shocking footage of cyclist riding at speed with no lights and dodging FLTs! There had been an ongoing campaign that cyclists should be allowed to cycle across site on vehicle routes. This footage helped shape policy!

One less transport stream one less risk?

Changing behaviour on an old site is fun fun fun, I love my new job :)

Hi there

You could try using the HSE workplace transport checklist to assess the site and use the headings of each section in your risk assessment to document what you are doing well and what other controls you might need to put in place:
