I'm reviewing an existing "occupied buildings risk assessment" for a chemical plant. I'm aware of revised CIA guidance on the topic published last year (since the assessment was compiled) and am obtaining a copy. Can anyone give an idea of how significant the changes to the guidance are and whether incorporating it is likely to involve a lot of work and/or specialist expertise?

Document is identical to 2nd Ed in content upto end of Appendix 4. Appendix 5 Temporary Buildings has been replaced with a 3 page "case Study" Appendix 6 covers Existing Building Assessment for VCE App 7 & 8 set out exceedance curves App 9 Blast load for buildings. Overall, I don't see any significant amount of additional work.

No probs, If the OBRA was previously considered suitable and sufficient, then the so called revised guidance should have no impact IMHO. New guidance offers an alternative approach for new buildings but use of exceedance curves is voluntary and there are other acceptable methods. If you have previous guidance, then I wouldnt bother with the update
