I have been asked to look at the carriage of fireworks for a haulage contractor. I have looked at ADR and CDGRR but am unable to find, or missed, information on classification of fireworks, suitable vehicles, number of staff required during deliveries, etc. Can anyone please point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

Go to the HSE web page. Enter "explosives homepage" into the search thingy-bob on the upper R/H side. Select the top item which should be "explosives health and safety in the workplace". Loads of links should appear.......

Maybe you should advise that your client consult a qualified DGSA

Also from your post I would guess that your haulage contractor does not have any appropriately certified drivers?

Hi, the transport would depend on the UN number of the fireqorks, fire works are placed into about five different UN Numbers and depending on the number will depend on how it can be transported. For example if the fireworks were UN Number 0337 they sar paced in transport category 4 and you could carry unlimited amounts without coming under any ADR/CDG requirements, except 2 kg fire extinguisher, and awareness training for the driver, no special eqipment etc. However UN 0333 is classed as 1.1. division and transport category 1 so more provisions would apply. In short if you could supply the UN Number I could supply exact requirements.
