Morning all,
Another interesting one (hopefully better than items from certain rags) for you all to dig into.

I'm investigating the requirements of Italian H&S legislation in regard to construction as we have been asked to tender for work in Italy. I've found this is currently covered by Title 4 of Legislative Decree 81/08 but the translation is not the best.

I'm trying to establish the differences between what we need to do as (Principal) Contractor compared to UK legislation (which we are more than familiar with) and also appointment of the safety co-ordinator (i.e. is it a Client's duty to appoint similar to how we appoint CDM-C) as it appears to be separate roles (design stage and construction stage).

Also the role of "supervisor" (Article 89 1) c) ) is unclear in the translation I have but it sounds very similar to the Principal Contractor dutyholder under CDM07. Obviously don't want to trip up on this one if Italian legislation requires it to be a completely separate person.

Finally, any suggestions on European level H&S training as this looks like an area where we are looking to expand. Already hold NVQ Level 4 in OHS Practice so feel that NEBOSH International Diploma may be a step too far?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

If you can be bothered you could have a look at the parent EU directive which the CDM regs are transposed from which might make the Italian regs clearer (or not)

The directive in question is Council Directive 92/57/EEC of 24 June 1992 which should be at http://eur-lex.europa.eu...=CELEX:31992L0057:en:NOT

Thanks for the thought but I had already gone from the that website to the Italian legislation as I'd got 92/57/EEC from our own body of legislation as my initial search reference. Unfortunately it doesn't make it that much clearer in the specific areas.

Though it did also bring up a whole load of cases between the EU and individual countries!

Also given the list of individual country's implementation of 92/57/EEC I hope we're not going to be working under French legislation soon. It lists quite a few documents/decrees.
