I have been asked to determine what our requirements are with regards to Face Fit Testing. We probably have about 300 employees/labour only sub-contractors who for example cut concrete and are exposed to Silica Dust. Other risks and activities are also being considered.
I have downloaded the guidance from the HSE and I am currently reviewing this but I would be interested in any suggestions on how others have complied with this requirement.
For example, the clean shaven requirement is expected to be an issue as you would expect within the construction industry.

Morning Jaywbee
Coshh 2005 set the requirements for face fit testing 6 years or more ago (though I can find references pre1998 in HSG 53), and has been debated a lot on these forums recently.
Clean shaven policies do exist in some companies but are not a requirement, non-face sealing masks such as battery powered hoods are available to bearded employees.
Obviously you have a responsability to face fit your own employees and should ask the question to your sub-contractor managers to make sure it is implemented their side.
We have 2500+ people on our site and do not have a clean shaven policy
