Hi all, I may be a lone voice on this one but when linking to a news story or other can an overview of the story or issue also be posted please. Some of us don't always have the time or inclination to open up the link and read through it all (especially when so many things seem to be linked to posts nowadays). It may be a valid issue but less people will respond if they can't be bothered to read it all. ...and to prove I am prepared to go to the effort myself, yes I did post an overview on a recent news link I posted about a race being cancelled!! ;-) Thanks!!

Clairel Good point. You are not a lone voice. Some time ago, goodness knows when - and perhaps before the change of forum format - I made a plea for topic posters to give brief overviews regarding links to news webpages, etc. No doubt there are other forum users who think the same. In addition, please could topic posters think about the topic titles/headings they use and try to make them relevant to the topics involved? Furthermore, judging from the numbers of errors in topic headings and text, it seems evident that some topic posters and responders don't bother to briefly check through what they've written before hitting the "post" button. As this is a publicly accessible forum on the website of a professional body, blatant spelling errors, etc., surely don't reflect well on either the individuals involved or IOSH and its people generally. Okay, there's no such thing as perfection. When any of us carry out a proof read, it's inevitable that minor errors can elude us. However, there's no reason not to aim for a good standard on this forum.

I agree with Clairl on this one. In my case it's not that i don't have time to read the links, more that i can't access a number of the links through the works computers. This basically means i cant access most of the news reports and podcasts (including the audioboo update with regards to Barbour Index) so a brief summary would be nice.
