Hi everyone,
Since taking voluntary redundancy in 2009 from my position of welder/safety rep, I have done several courses all of which are self funded, which I hope employers will find desirable in helping me achieve my goal for a career in h&s. City and guilds 7303 PTTLS(to qualify me to train), City and guilds manual handling train the trainer, an IT course, GCSE English(to improve my report writing), first aid at work, safety passport, IOSH managing safely. I passed the NEBOSH general certificate in May this year and then became Tech IOSH and i'm starting the diploma in a couple of weeks through day release . I have been doing voluntary work for an h&s consultant for the last couple of months which has been an invaluabe learning experience. I have been doing inspections of schools and workplaces and also COSHH assessments. I am still finding it increasing difficult to gain the elusive first employment in a h&s role. I have extensive industry experience in my role as a welder working on many sites. I have registered with lots of agencies and applied for jobs(with no replies), so not sure if it's my location, i'm based in the north east or lack of experience or a mixture of both. Therefore if anyone could offer some advice I would really appreciate it.
