Hi All,

Our site fitter is looking to build a filter for a large bath that would be lifted in and out and emptied by the forklift trucks, I am not sure if this would fall under LOLER as an attachment to the FLT or not fall under as it is just a filter that is fitted and extracted by the FLT.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi James

From what you have said I do not think it would come under LOLER.

The regs define lifting equipment as work equipment for lifting and lowering loads and includes attachments used for anchoring. fixing it or supporting it. It includes lifting accessories that attach the load to the machine in addition to the equipment which carries out the actual lifting function.

It sounds as though the filter would be the load that is being lifted and is not applicable under LOLER.

Is this a one off task or a regular serviced task? Seem unsure from reading it so thought it would be good to ask.

Expect it to be emptied every couple of weeks or so or at least that is the plan so far
