Hi all First off I have tried to do a search of previous discussion topics re this issue but it came up "error in database". I am looking for guidance relating to ramp access to vehicles for wheelchair users. I can only find information relating to access to buildings. Is there seperate guidance or a British Standard relating to disabled access vehicle ramps? Thanks in advance. Son of Skywalker (SOS)

Hi, The publication that you need is BS 8300:2009+A1:2010-"Design of buildings and their approaches to meet the needs of Disabled People - Code of Practice. It contains 230 pages, so it will be very expensive to buy. You local university or main library may have access to all of the British Standards. Regards PH2

Hi PH2 I have that document but as it refers to buildings it does not help me with the issue of disabled ramps for vehicles. I believe there is a document for taxis but was hoping to find guidance for all vehicles where ramps have to be used. Thanks for taking the time to reply. SOS

Take a look at the MHRA document "Guidance on the safe use of wheelchairs and vehicle-mounted passenger lifts" which can be found here: http://www.mhra.gov.uk/h...ublication/con007320.pdf This contains references to a number of standards which would apply as well as giving other guidance.

I think LOLER and the BS re Tail Lifts etc are the two most valuable in the list provided but I suggest you go to the Motability web site. If you go to the WAV search page it will give the name oif the conversion company and you can contact these. You could also do a plain google search but the one's for motability are among the largest. Bob

Thanks Bob. You would think it would be easier than this to get the info. SOS
