Can anyone help with the list of required notices that must to be displayed in the workplace? HaSaWA clearly being the prime item. I think I might see a varying list of answers.

H&S policy EL insurance certificate F10 for CDM projects You don't mention for what industry - if you're dispensing alchohol on site, then the LA certificate allowing such needs to be displayed.

As Rees says it depends on the industry however. There is no legal requirement to display your H&S policy not even the statement part, it simply has to be available to staff. You have to either display the H&S law poster or give each member of staff the leaflet. All other posters are dependant on specific requirements such as noise at work or radiation etc.

Bear in mind that the EL Insurance Certificate need not be displayed openly in paper form, it can be made available electronically instead if you want. If it is done electronically staff must know where to find it - see HSE publication HSE39[rev1].

However; if this route is taken, it should be readily/ easily accessible to all staff. Therefore, in some industries, this route may not be suitable. Fire Action notices should, however, also be displayed. Also, fire muster point locations and (again, depending on site/ industry) First Aid kit location and First Aid Responder notices.

Thank you for your responses to date. Its just the company's office reception which after re-decoration we have decided to reduce the number of notices, certificates, awards etc to a "legal" minimum. We had got to the stage whereby Waste Carrier's Licence, awards from Principal Contractors, Trade membership accreditations, V.A.T. Certificates and anything else that came to us was "posted" for all to see, thus becoming quite a feature in the reception.

Power to your elbow. Most people now have "notice blindness" due to all and sundry putting up signs, to the extent that I suspect no sign anywhere is ever read anymore. I HATE signage - should be banned completely! Sorry, it IS Friday, but a subject I am passionate about, sign reduction is a great safety improvement!
