Hi,
we recently had some training on site and the trainer advised that “Apparently by writing anything on hard hats invalids any claim if involved in an accident as you have affected the quality of the material- same rule applies to crash helmets.
Could I please have any views on this as it does seem OTT?
Many Thanks
Bill

There is, apparently, a risk that certain adhesives (stickers) or solvents (marker pens) can weaken the 'fabric' of hard hats. As such it is generally forbidden to affix things or write on them. Site induction stickers are generally a different case because the adhesives used in their manufacture are thought to be 'safe' for use on plastic hard-hats.

Contact the manufacturer and post them examples of what stickers you are going to use, they will analyse the adhesive and give you results.
