Firstly, well done you for getting your toe in the door with an interview. A regular question is how would you deal with a line manager/Supervisor/Foreman who is not managing safely e.g. turns a blind eye to unsafe working. I bet with your experience you have seen this before. Also what would you do if you witnessed/came across employees working dangerously. E.g. in my last interview, (Got the job) in the past our warehouse staff had to climb over other goods to reach our stock for unloading - if you saw this what would you do? My reply? Yes of course stop it but then look for a solution, we are not employed just to say no we are being paid to find solutions so that the company we work for stays in business. So in this case written agreements how loads should be delivered, train staff to risk assess how such loads such be handled, turn carrier away if needs be, etc. Employers are wary of someone who is going to preach H & S to them and quote regs without using common sense, they will be looking for someone who can influence others and work with managers and employees. So someone who is firm but fair, a good listener, confident speaking to managers and the people in the 'muck and bullets'. Best of luck Scotswahey.

Thanks for those who took time to reply or PM me, no new job, the compitition is huge out there. Tried to sell myself on the fact i have been in construction for twenty seven years, and know it inside out, it seems to me there is just no starter postions, despite low pay charterd members are applying for even the most basic postion, have to wonder if the study was worth it. its very discouraging
