Wozza,
Not an ACOP exactly but the 17th edition wiring regs cover PV cell installation and couple that up with HSG33 "H&S in roof work" and I recon you have it covered,

Hi Wozza

Also consider information published by government departments and trade/professional organisations involved in solar installation as this guidance will reflect best practice in the industry.

I have listed a few that may be of use:-

1. Photovoltaics in Buildings Guide to the Installation of PV Systems 2nd edition, 2006 - This appears to
be the main guidance.
see www.bre.co.uk/filelibrar..._systems_2nd_Edition.pdf

2. BRE Digest 489 BRE 'Wind loads on roof-based Photovoltaic systems' ISBN 1 86081713 0, 2004

3. BRE Digest 495. 'Mechanical Installation of roof-mounted Photovoltaic systems' ISBN 1 86081 869 23,
2005

4. ‘Photovoltaics in Buildings–Safety and the CDM Regulations BSRIA/DTI Feb 2000, ISBN 0 86022 548 8,
see www.bsria.co.uk

5. Solar Design and Installation Guide by CIBSE 2007, ISBN 9781903287842 see www.cibse.org.uk

6. Building control requirements

7. Part P (Electrical safety) - Building Regulations

Wozza, not sure what aspect of solar panel installation you are specifically interested in, however a WAH organisation provide a Train the Trainer course, which looks at the methodology for installations. The work is quite complex being part scaffolding, harness, lanyard, ladder work and electrical. Plus the work involves mainly pitched roofs and all sorts of weather - not my idea of fun.
