Can someone give me guidance on the procedures of working for a british airline and having an accident in an African country does the same rules apply. The IP broke an ankle and was off work for six months, does a RIDDOR report have to be filled in as they still work for a british company whilst the accident happened abroad.

Hi Love15533
Crew accidents down route are not normally reported under RIDDOR as it is outside UK Territorial Waters.(reg. 12 RIDDOR).
General duty of care still applies though and you should manage the accident as any other accident.
The CAA publication CAP757 Occupational Health and Safety on board aircraft has a section on accident reporting. Access this through the Aviation and Aerospace Group (AAG) publications section.
The CAA Mandatory Occurrence Reporting scheme main apply if the crew member was unable to carry out there primary flight safety duties at the time of the accident, but as far as I am aware they don't have an an equivalent requirement for reporting over 3 day injuries.
PM me if I can be of any further help.
