Hi, Can anybody recommend a good fire risk assessment course/provider. I am looking at an intermediate level one, not the basic stuff. One that includes good techncial training.. Has anyone been on a good on which they could recommend. Is it better to use the fire services for this type of training? Look forward to your suggestons Regards Ian

Hi Ashley30225 I did my 5 day FRA course with Vulcan Fire Training who were excellent - Plenty of practical exercises on plan drawings and a very knowledgeable and helpful tutor. You can then go on to do further courses such as Fire Manager Certificate and Advanced. They are based in Wellingborough (I am nothing to do with them just a happy ex student) Regards SW

Has to be the NEBOSH fire certificate. Pick a credible supplier and away you go. From first hand experience of training provision I can recommend the British Safety Council and Santia (ex Britannia...Connaught Compliance) though not done the Fire Cert..yet.

FRA do a Foundation degree course in Fire Risk Management, validated by the University of Derby. https://www.thefpa.co.uk..._management/default.aspx One module of the course is specifically on Fire Risk Assessment, which can be attended as a stand alone module Phil W

I did the NFC ok foudation course - I then did the FP 5 day residential course at Warwick University, part one of the European Dip – very good… I am booked on the Vulcan Advance Fire Managers certificate – on recommendation from another satisfied student. With hindsight I would have skipped the NFC, having said that I did it in its infancy – it may have come on a bit now. Phil W – that looks very good – I may give them a call next year post my AC – be interesting to look at what exemptions they offer with current quals – thanks for that.

I always refer t a book that Andrew Furness wrote- Introduction to Fire Management I have done a few fire qualifications. Personally I would get in touch with the Institute of Fire Engineers (IFE) and they will direct you to some cracking course providers who follow their syllabus. I attended a recent event at Sandown where all the major players in the fire industry attended. There was mention of the IFE as being one of the most recognised proffesional bodies in the fire industry, and a view in the future, to use their Fire Risk Assessors Register as a measure of competency. its O.K going to a good consultancy or course provider to learn thsi subject but, is the course syllabus widely recognised? would be my question. Hope this helps. p.s Has anyone mentioned the European Fire Safety Diploma, also a great course.
