We have a small office within a residential area twice this week when members of staff have been going home there has been children running in between the cars on our car park and the other night it was a child of about 2. Cars coming into the car park, and people reversing probably wouldn't’t see the child until it was too late, is there anything we should or can do. the car park is well lit we do have CCTV and designated car park boxes we do not have gates or fences to prevent access as the car park is shared signage is to easy and I think not really a solution has anyone had a similar experience and if so what did they do.

I'd be inclined to perhaps approach your local community police officer for a little bit of local community liasion. Just a suggestion.

Speak to your local newspaper and see if they can write an article on the issue. Local newspapers are usually distributed free to the community so may just reach every home in the vicinity.

Depending on general layout and usage, you may also wish to consider a reverse-in parking strategy.

Contact Social Work!! A 2 year old should never be allowed to be running free in this type of environment - makes you despair of some parents!!.

Couple of suggestions; - Local free paper (put an article in raising concern over child safety) - Contact local police and ask if they would undertake awareness in the area (visiting schools). If you say you'd be willing to attend and speak to the children then they might be interested in a joint venture. - printed flyer through doors in area (nothing fancy, just short & highlighting concern for their childrens welfare) - contact local community centre / library / parents groups / schools and alert them of your concerns and to discuss with their users. - speed bumps to reduce speed inside the car park (entering / exit). though some of these will likely incur expenses for your organisatio e.g. printing costs.
