Do pressure equipment regs and pressure system safety regs apply to a vacuum chamber of about 1 cubic meter?

I can find no reference to negative pressure and am inclined to think it falls outside the scope of the regs. Any evidence to the contrary would be most welcome.

Thanks

Hi,
the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations do not apply. The ACoP paragraph 8 specifically excludes "vacuum conditions".

That said, I cannot find any regulations that do apply, although I suspect that there probably are some.

Thanks very much for the pointer.

PH2 is right about the Pressure Systems Safety Regs. They do not apply.

I am not aware of any specific regulations that cover vacuum systems. The dangers to take account of in your risk assessment will depend on things like the material of construction, how it could fail, whether you can get inside it, etc.
