Hi Guys
I am looking at doing the APS online examination to get registered as a CDM Co-ordinator. I was wondering if anyone can either:
- Provide me with some practice question papers; or - Be able to provide me with an insight into the types of questions they will ask
I am pretty much on the ball with the CDM regs, and before it is mentioned, I already get the questions are going to ask about the CDM regs. I am asking how they will be set out? Will they be asking you about the regulations? Will they be asking about ACoPS? Will it be more practical application in real life scenarios?
I would just like to prepare in the right way, and would prefer to get advice from those who have sat the test, rather than advice directly from the professional body.
Cheers guys/gurls

I was looking at this last week and I noticed that if you do the Management of CDM course and then apply for membership within 3 months of the course you do not need to do the online exam. This is the route I will take I think.

Personally, if you have a good inclination of the regs, it would be easier IMO to sit the online test. The 3 day course is a little onerous for those with the knowledge already and is based on the L144 ACOP for CDM. The course is available via approved providors, who are (see: https://www.aps.org.uk/423591.html ). I'm moving jobs and will become RMaPS accordingly, as the company holds Corporate RMaPS membership, so my role will require this anyhow. Hope it helps.

Guys, it's a few years since I sat the test but as I recall it was multiple choice. It was split between typical scenarios that you might come across during design / construction / completion and a few straightforward questions about the regulations. They did not require a photographic memory of individual regulations: just a practical outworking of what is required.
There are no past papers available as the exams are online and supposedly drawn from a random selection from a "bank" of potential questions.
If you have a solid working knowledge of CDM there should be no problems.
Good luck!

Thanks for the great replies. Sometimes I find this forum very subjective and unhelpful but, to excellent answers, thank you. I think I may just be thinking about the exam too much. I usually study night and day before a test, but maybe I should just relax a little sometimes :-).
