Is AFD that complies with BS 5839 Part 6 Grade D (for dwellings) sufficient to use in a protected staircase that serves as the only means of escape for the second and third floor of an office. The ground floor is a pizza shop, the protected staircase has independent access from the pizza shop. My impression is that the AFD should comply with BS 5839 Part 1 as it is not a dwelling. Your opinion welcome.
