Can anyone tell me what is the competency requirement for a crane inspector? Is there a industry accepted standard?

Thanks very much

Thats a tricky one to answer, like so many professions, some things are not always written down to make it straight forward.

What type of cranes are you concerned about - Gantry, Storage and Retrieval, Tower, Mobile etc etc??

One competence that jumps out would be to have sound knowledge of LOLER.

Also it could depend on the type of inspector electrical/mechanical??

Sorry I cant really help.

A competent person as defined in Regulation 9 of LOLER.
