Im trying to decide which one of these courses to do. I would love to complete both but at the moment only one is sustainable due to costs involved.
I have completed the Nebosh Cert for fire and Gen but am not sure if I have the acedemic abilities to complete the dip as there is some tough critics of it out there.
Does anyone have first hand experience of the above two courses who can comment to assist me in making my decision?
Regards

Hi Newby, I suggest that the choice you make should be based on how you see your career progressing. For generalist H&S the NEBOSH Dip is ideal whilst a specialist fire route would suggest the other.
I do not have recent experience of either so cannot comment on the academic requirements. Certainly there is more rigorous examination for Dip than Cert although it is over a longer period and if combined with practical experience may be less of a hurdle than you perceive.
Good luck

I wouldn't do the Diploma at the moment, seems like a waste of money give the severe lack of jobs in the h&s sector.
Experienced people are struggling to find work, leave alone people with limited experience.

Hey Newby, go with your instinct!! It maybe not worth while doing the diploma in either due to the current climate but who knows what may happen in the future. To do the right qual for you now may benefit you sooner than if you don't especially if you have the time ( and possible funds to do it!!). Personally I would say its better to have voluntary experience backing up a diploma than experience without it!! CPD would look a bit better!!!
It is for me defeatist to not do it just because of the down turn!! But that's just my opinion!!!
Any hoo how's Harrods?
