I've been asked about providing a "league table" of the PCs I audit on a regular basis and am now looking for some suggestions?

I don't have any problems with tick lists just how to turn the audit report into a scoring system.

All ideas will be most welcome.

Thanks

Chris, allocate points based on speed of processor, amount of free RAM when running various tasks, graphics capability, spare disc space and deduct for illegally downloaded software.

Alternatively, if you are thinking about sharing audit results with competing companies, be very afraid.

We carry out multi site audits and work on 0-3.

0 - carries an "internal" improvement notice
1 - poor (example - defence against litigation would be poor)
2 - good (example - defence would be ok)
3 - fully compliant (example -defence would be strong)

stuff4 - sorry I've misled you - the PCs are principal contractors.

Just a reminder that to be fare to all parties you can only score properly if 'like for like' situations apply

You are exactly right Bob. Already considered this, there are five different scenarios so five tables will be required.

Chris, my tongue in cheek response was due to me being rather hyper and elated by today's industry news.

Given that the PCs are likely to be commercial competitors, the "winners" will be delighted whilst those lower down the table much less so. If you are to publish results then it is essential to get a full and unconditional buy-in from all the participants and for them to all agree the scope and scoring methodology. You will also need to guarantee absolute impartiality and consistency (very hard to achieve).

If this is to be done on a company by company basis, then it is less of a commercial issue but still requires very careful planning and implementation.
