I have been tasked with investigating a system seen in use in France. It sat amongst a display of white spirit in a shop aand comprised of what appeared to an upright foam extinguisher body with two horizontal pipes coming out from the top. At the end of these where sprinkler heads pointing downwards.
This seems quite a clever solution. Does anyone have any experiance of such a system or know if its available in the UK?

There is a device which could be described as a portable sprinkler system. However, I can't think of the tradename
It consists of a stored pressure water extinguisher with a sprinkler bulb assembly fitted to the body of the extinguisher casing.
My local shopping centre has them fitted at high level to the underside of the roof portable stalls/market barrows (with mock material roofs) which trade from within the circulation spaces of a covered mall.
So if a display of celebrity calenders or mixed nuts catch fire, the sprinkler above will eventually operate, and hopefully damp down the blazing nuts below with it's 9 litres of wet stuff.
I am not sure whether they are covered by any recognised standard and will post the name of the supplier or system when/if I can remember it!!

I have noted such systems being used in quality type fish and chip shops where they are positioned over fryers
