Hi All,
I am new to the forums and I tried to fing the answer to my question but I couldn't. We have a Thermal Oxidiser Steel Tower approx 17m high. Do we need a lightning conductor on it? What does the law says? Is there any specific requirements to install it? We also have taller building on site - do we need to install it there? Thanks

Hi Karolina, there is an International Standard which deals with this topic IEC/EN/BS 62305 and also NFPA 780. These detail how to assess the risk of lightning strikes and whether protection is needed. The subject is quite complex and technical. Internet searches will probably find guides and further info.

Furse are one of several companies who specialise in this field and their website has much useful information. There is also a software program available (at cost) with a free trial download

Note that I have no connection to this or any other lightning protection company.
