During feild survey it was observed that the grinding wheel operating speed (RPM )is similiar to operating speed of the grinding machine. As we know that the grinding machine PRM must not exceed the RPM of grinding wheel therefore what are the risk associated with running a grinding wheel at similiar speed of the machine. Please discuss .

Safetycool - Not quite sure what machine or wheel you have but In general machines are usually in RPM and the wheel in surface speed per minute. Is there any maximum markings on the grinding wheel (side tag)? What does the wheel manufacturer recommend is maximum surface speed or RPM? You need to translate surface speed into RPM and then determine if the wheel is appropriate for the machine. You should never exceed the operating speeds recommended by the wheel manufacturer otherwise it could break.

As long as you ensure the wheel speed is equal to or higher than stated on the machine, you will meet the necessary requirements.
