My question relates to eyebolts / anchor points used for rope access. I understand that these come under the requirements of LOLER and as such require examination by a competent person at least every 6 months.

What I am having trouble establishing is whether there is are specific standards, e.g. BS EN, which abseiling anchor points should comply with in respect of their design and installation and in their examination and testing.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Hi Deana

Anchor bolts, gougons etc are covered by EN 795. Best thing to do is have a look at the Lyon catalogue 2012 which gives loads of info on this type of gear, the relevant legislation and it's uses. It's a big file (64Mb) but well worth it. http://www.lyon.co.uk/Br...hures/View-category.html

The Work at Height Safety Association Technical Guidance Note 6 is worth a look;

Not specific to abseiling but a friend of mine suggests you look at this.
tg4:11 from NASC.
You may find some helpful info on there.
