Hi,
In my workplace there has been talks of replacing our old gas FLT with a diesel one due to cost savings.
We have no means of storing the diesel on site and would only be able to do this by means of Gerry can.
The FLT is in use for long periods at a time.
Would you agree the diesel powered option is not viable ?

Silly question but why do you not have anywhere to store even one 205lt drum of diesel. Most premises would have space for that i would assume, obviously it would need to be secure and safe from spills (bunded pallet etc...)
All of my sites however small they are still have room to store a few drums safely.

From my understanding drums of diesel should only be used for short term measures ? Please correct me if I am wrong.

Are you planning on using the diesel FLT indoors? Obviously if the answer is yes, then diesel is a no-no and you should stick to gas or electric. You can get a small diesel tank that will take about 350 litres and is bunded see link below http://www.commercialfue...storage_tank/350BND.html

It will be used indoors and out. The area inside has two large shutter doors which will ventilate the inside.
As for the link, how do you go about getting these filled , as access is a problem.
I think the drums may be a better option, but what's the views on using these long term ?

Not sure on the drums only for short term measures to be honest. And no, never ever thought of calling myself 9hally ;)

But will they be adequate ventilation ? I do not suppose for one tiny second that you will be using road diesel, so it will be high-sulphur rebated diesel.

I will of course carry out a risk assessment on the suitability and will look at ventilation measures.

Slight alteration. Rebated vehicle fuel is now low-sulphur (10mg/litre), but is also now 3-7% bio content. I should get-out more, and read my links.
