Is there a minimum decibel level for a warning horn on an FLT?

Or a recommendation for a level?
I have contacted a couple of organisations but no answer is forthcoming so far
Any guidance would be much appreciated

Hi Booney, Im not aware of any specific requirements for horn levels of FLT's. I suppose it would depend on the noise levels of the environment in which it was operating, and as such should be at an appropriate level so it could be heard.
A basic rule of thumb used for fire alarm sounders is that they are 10dBA above the noise levels of the area they are in.

Hi Guru, I tested noise levels in the cab of one of our trucks and found that a horn from another truck was some 14dB higher (at 10m distance) which I felt was adequate but that then made me wonder if there was actually any guidance out there - hence my post.
