I'm trying to put together a day long tree safety training session for Nature Reserve Wardens to include basic ground based tree inspection and setting up tree inspection routines. All Wardens (about 10 in total)are based in and around West Midlands so it would help if I could bring them all together, say in Birmingham. I can supply site with mixed trees and public access issues and an indoor venue. Is there an IOSH approved trainer for this in the area? I've tried the external trainer PDF with no luck, it's not 100% requirement to be IOSH approved but I want to support it where possible, IOSH member at least. You can email me direct if you are interested k.tomkins@staffs-wildlife.org.uk Cheers Keith

First port of call for this type of training would be the Lantra website. Find one of their providers locally and see if they can tailor something to your needs. www.lantra.co.uk

Hi Keith, Talk to Paul Smith at the Arboricultural Association 01242 522152 / www.trees.org.uk , he (and colleagues) are running these types of (LANTRA) courses on a regular basis, many of them tailored to company/organisation's requirements. A general one is on this link ( http://www.trees.org.uk/...ree-Survey-Inspection_25 ) to give you an idea of what is covered. IOSH approved? he was a presenter at the recent IOSH tree safety seminar at Alnwick - I'm not sure there are any IOSH 'approved' arboriculturalists but there are a few arbs, including me, that are IOSH members. Hope this helps, Andy P

I am not in any way being funny but are you not going outside your commpetence area if you are considering presenting / helping present the course or am I reading too much into your question? Its best to get an expert in and let them run with it as has already been very well said by Andy
