Hi, I'm after some advice or direction. I have an interview at a PFI Hospital as a H+S Manager, and I need to deliver 10 min presentation on "“How does H&S Management interface / influence the PFI contract and what are the primary risks?” I have some general ideas, but am looking for some specifics? And I need to get it sorted for Thursday evening so time is pressed? Any help would be appreciated either on here or via pm email. Thanks

Hi Is this for a PFI that is to be built or one that has been opened? I have some dealings with PPP schools if that is any help. Main issue I come across is making sure that all the responsibilities are clearly defined and nothing slips through the gaps. Similarly PM me if you want more detail.

Holmezy, is the post with the NHS Trust operating out of the hospital, or with the PFI operator of the facility? I seem to recall NHS having some decent stuff on-line on the topic (obviously written from their perspective) but most of it around procurement and construction issues. It is extremely difficult to find anything positive on the web on this topic - mostly what is there tends to be very negative (e.g. UNISON publications). That said, you could always take these negatives and put a positive spin on them. The most common issues with any PFI (irrespective of the type of facility) seem to be the constant wrangling over funding and responsibility to fix and maintain things, the quality and durability of goods and services, entrenched attitudes, poor communications and lack of consultation across the two bodies. Regarding specific operational risk issues in health care, this document may be of some use: http://www.hse.gov.uk/fo...ctors/public/7_05_12.pdf
