Hi, is anyone genned up on the "Equipment & protective systems intended for use in potentionally explosive atmospheres regulations 1996" and/or ATEX ? We use a suction drainer to empty vehicle fuel tanks. It is not electric, but is powered by the workshop compressed air line. There is an earth cable to discharge static, so no sources of ignition. Petrol vapour is mostly returned to the "empty" tank on the vehicle as the liquid is being sucked out. Should this piece of equipment be marked with the Ex mark etc and comply with above regs ? It has a Ce mark. Your thoughts requested please.
