Health and Well being conference - is it worth going?

I have received a flyer for the Health and Wellbeing conference at Birmingham NEC in March
It looks on paper to be an excellent use of 2 days and a good way to get my CPD up to speed
has anyone been in previous years please (I presume this is not the first year)
If you have been to this event, can you drop me a reply with a yea or nay please with your views
link is www.healthatwork2012.co.uk
I normally go to the Safety and Health Expo (and will be going this year) but this is heavily 'stand' orientated with some lecture areas
I would like to go to IOSH (never been) but can't justify the large £500 approx fee to my company, (I/we would rather use the money on professional training for myself or the site personnel
How come all these guys can put on great events cheaply but IOSH charge this amount?
I'd appreciate your views on the event - thanks

Do the people who display their wares at these expos pay to have a stall? If yes there's your answer.

Yes, those such as us who exhibit have to pay for a stand. But we would also have to pay for a stand at the IOSH conference. The difference is that the visitors come from a much wider spread and are far more numerous at Health and Wellbeing, so it is easier to justify the cost for Health and Wellbeing than for IOSH. So there is a more varied spread of different companies at this one and I believe a larger number of exhibitors. A large number of visitors = more income.

I went to this last year and it was really useful. I was at the time a H&S inspector and found many of the lectures relevant to my job. Now I am a self employed consultant and equally there are lectures on topics I'm not that familiar with and some that will be great for a review e.g. accident investigation.. There are so many topic areas covered most people would find something relevant.
In my opinion it is a great way to up your CPD and for £30 you can't really lose.
