I hold NEBOSH general. Nebosh fire, both with credit. I hold CIEH with merit level 4, currently studying the NTU PRO DIP SHEM. I have 27yrs work based knowledge split between catering and construction. I have been trying to gain employment, with I must say very little luck at the moment. I don't think anyone could wave a magic wand and say this is what you need to do and you will be in employment. But is there anyone out there who tried something just by chance and it actually worked,if so would you like to share your good fortune and let me know how you succeeded. Thank you ,all responses treated with the greatest respect.

Ensure your CV is well written. Upload to every job/career site such as Monster, Jobsite and Reed. In addition phone every recruitment agency and register with them. As stuie says, set up a LinkedIn profile and try and establish contact with friends/former work colleagues. Join LinkedIn groups as many companies/recruitment agencies advertise through there. Go to local IOSH branch/district meetings and network. In the NW there are plenty of meetings - branch in Eccles, districts in Central Lancs and East Lancs. And apply for each and every job you see advertised. Even if you don't meet requirements stated in the ad 100%, use your covering letter to show what extra you can add to the position with other skills/experiences.
