Hello all, This may have been asked and answered a hundred times but... Is it a legal requirement (yet?) to ensure all company drivers, (cars as well as forklifts, tractors etc...) have regular eye tests, paid for by the company? I know there is a proposed EU directive about this but at the risk of sounding lazy, I just want an answer without having to do the research. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks,

Andy, I'm unsure if the directive has become law over here yet? Lost the link now, but pretty sure it didn't relate to car drivers but to coaches and others

Nothing specific yet. *However* if the driver uses display screen equipment in the cab, there would be a duty there I suppose. I doubt SatNav would escape inclusion if the regs were being written today.

Really? anyone who spends that much time looking at their sat nav screen instead of where they are going shouldn't be driving! What next...digital watches?

When did I say they should be staring at it whilst driving? The very fact that it should be used with glances rather than studying it whilst the view comes into focus makes me think that corrected eyesight may be a good option. :-) If cinema cash registers are included because of seating plans, programming and following a SatNav must get close.
