I have read on the operating and safety guide the need to ground generators running power supply through an RCD, I have seen this in practice, only once, what are the dangers of not earthing such machines? and how suitable/sufficient would the installation be, the attempts I know of were pretty much an earth braiding jubilee clipped to a spike then rammed in the ground, not by a qualified electrician but the operative and to a depth of 100mm!

Jason, you can get information regarding the requirements for earthing from BS7430 Code of Practice for Earthing. Any other help with it's interpretation please contact me by email. Sam
