I am seeking employment in the Health and Safety world. There are plenty jobs out there so how hard can it be to catch one??? I can answer my own question after many applications and many non replies. Can anyone advise on voluntary work, how to gain more practical experience and any other general advice would be gratefully received. I would like to say i am certainly not getting down in the dumps about it and i am keeping the chin up with lots of search and apply to follow. Start beating yourself up about things and the punches just start to feel all the harder. Many thanks

You appear not to provide much information as to what kind of role you are looking for, what your experience is in, what part of the world you are in, professional membership etc. With that in mind the 'world of health & safety' is having a difficult time as are many other kinds of employment in the UK which requires lots of soul searching, hard work and some luck!

Sorry about the lack of info. I am currently in employment with Local Government which entails various Health and Safety responsibilities ranging from Manual Handling Training,HAVS and Risk/COSHH assessments although its not a dedicated HSE role. I have the NEBOSH GC and am looking to enhance my knowledge and practical experience with the aim of a Health and Safety Adviser. I am looking to carry out any voluntary work i can to gain further experience as Health and Safety is my passion and i am willing to do what it takes to go that step further. I am based in Forfar,Angus but am happy to travel for any opportunity that may be offered. Any guidance that can be put my way would be much appreciated.
