Hi Guys,
Apologies if this has been covered somewhere before.
Just wondering if there is a load test to be done on pallet racking??
Any legislation for this, I am in Ireland by the way.
Thanks

Torres,
The racking should have been designed in a way & with calculations to give maximum weight capaicity, this should also be displayed on the racking to make oprators aware of the limitations for the racking, as this is work eqipment then Puwer will certainly apply. There is some information from SEMA i think that gives some indication as to possible load weights based on configuration, however this information should be provided by the desginer/installers.

Hi Torres,
There is a measurement that can be taken for beam deformation to establish if a beam has been critically overloaded. It is a ratio of deflection to beam length but I can't remember what it is off the top of my head. There is a SEMA course for racking inspection which covers this.
This is an industry CoP as opposed to legislation, but when in Rome.....
