Hi all, I am looking for a supplier of refresher H&S training. I have been looking all around but don't seem to be finding what I am after. I have had 2 years out on maternity leave and feel I need a refresh to make sure I am fully ready when I return to work in August. I have CMIOSH status and over 10 years experience prior to starting a family. My company are prepared to fund me on a suitable course or courses. Thanks

Carrie,

Have you made contact with your branch BEDA, who should be able to assist you with this or contact HQ on 0116 257 3100 and they will put you on the right track.

Please feel free to PM me if you feel if I can be of any further assistance.

Regards,

Ciaran Delaney

Carrie, I strongly suspect that your 10 years experience is still firmly embedded and the knowledge and skills you posess will still be there too. As a Member you will have been receiving SHP and I doubt that you have been totally idle in the intervening years, despite the demands of children.

What is missing is probably only confidence. Maybe your employer can offer some "dip-in" experiences prior to full return.

Also, the discussion forum here has some great threads that highlight current issues affecting your peers. It doesn't take much time to figure out what's important, what's useful, what's good, what's bad and what's plain rubbish.

Good luck.

Hi Carrie. I agree with David and I would be amazed if it all didn't come flooding back. I have been back in H&S for 2 yrs after an 8 year break (which felt like about 30!) and am utterly delighted to be back. I was intensely nervous and had a few 'blank' moments (and quite frankly still do) but the break gave me a fresh desire to get back to work and do well - any employer would want that enthusiasm so just try to show it when you interview. Good luck.
