Hi all

I have been asked to look at through the ceiling lifts that are used by people with mobility problems, e.g. wheelchair bound, where a stairlift would not be suitable.

I have been using the internet to identify various types and manufacturers.

My major concerns would be

1) If the lift broke down would it descend to the ground floor?
2) Someone standing on the floor above the lift when it starts to ascend.
3) Someone standing below the lift when it starts to descend.

Has anyone performed a risk assessment on these?

Any help and advice would be appreciated.

all your concerns are addressed in the design of homelifts built to BS5900 and CE marked

1. emergency lowering provided
2. pressure sensitive floor panel.
3. pressure sensitive bottom panel on lift car.
