Could I suggest you need to understand the drivers for behaviour to understand how to improve them? The "leading" lights (experts) in this field are Martin Fishbein and Icek Ajzen who have just published their most recent book on the subject, Predicting & Changing Behaviour. Its a bit of a read (I am a third the way through) but Ajzen has a great website which sums up their theory of reasoned action neatly, link below. http://people.umass.edu/aizen/index.html Enjoy what is a fascinating subject.

The Nuclear Industry has a wealth of info. Have a look at: http://nuclearsafety.info/safety-culture/ Probably not exactly what you are looking for, but worth a read. Best regards. Andrew

Interesting posts at 3&4 thanks! My main source of inspiration is Tim Marsh's stuff His book published by IIRSM "affective Safety Management" is excellent We have a workforce scattered around the UK and use Ryder Marsh Behavioural safety training CDs I think they were £1500 for 6 - these have proved to be very cost effective.
