Advice required, I run a small warehouse and transport operation ( 20,000 sqft and Yard ). It was brought up at our H & S commitiee meeting that we rquired fire marshalls. I have fire risked the building and gone through this with our local enviromental Health Official. At the moment this has not thrown up a need for trained fire marshalls. Is the use of supervisors and managers in set areas sufficent to undertake this role if they have clear areas of responsibility and instruction. Basically do i need to pay for fire marshall training on a fairly basic site that has very little flammable objects ( we deal mostly in ironmongery ). Pallets and paper only. Your thoughts please. Hi Coxy, It's really all down to your FRA, if it doesn't indicate the need for fire wardens in your fire safety arrangments or in the case of a real life evacuation then the anser would be 'no', but remember you would have to justify the decision if it was tested in court. Have you made sure you have taken noise and the ability of all staff to hear alarms? You may need wardens to mitigate problems like that.
