Dear All,

I am Mandar Raut from India, M, 26 yrs. I am going to pursue a course MSc in Environment Health and Safety form the University of Sunderland from September 2012. This course is a IOSH certified course. I wanted some advice as to what I should do along with my Masters course so that I will be at a better position to find a job at the end of my Masters. Can anybody suggest any other accreditation, course etc? Can I find part-time job in EHS field. Would anybody like to share the more details. Awaiting replies.

Hi Mandar

I think you would be more likely to find summer placement(s).

Network at the local branch meetings to try and get to know H&S professionals working for the bigger employers.

Work on your CV including non safety-related experience......and think about what transferable skills that this experience has developed.

Good luck and enjoy the course.

Hi Mandar,

As well as Peters sound advice try to look for opportunities to develop business skills.

There are a lot of H&S guys who are brilliant at their profession but cannot sell it to management.

Hi Mandar,

Are you coming to the UK to do the course and look for work or are you doing this via elearning and looking for work in India, Middle East etc?

Dependant on your location of work and sector you hope to get into will alter the best course of action for you.

Regards
