Shame it does not exist or does it? Over the weekend reading the job pages in the SHP magazine I noticed a job advertised in South Wales (rare as hen’s teeth). It is a well-known agency ( or toast topping) advertising for a Health and Safety Adviser based in South Wales. If you go to said web site and type in the title you don’t get any results in South Wales. Odd I thought, so I typed the ref number in shown in the add and there it was 400,000 employees globally. Now anyone job hunting in Wales over the last 6 weeks or so, has seen this advert and I chased it up once on the same web site and it was marked up that the job had gone. So is it real or not? Should I just play the game and sent my CV ? Even though I don’t think it exists If I do will I just end up inundated with sales rubbish from them ? or should I just think “ it can’t hurt”

For what its worth Chris, I think the job is/was with a well known on line retailer - think river!! If it is - the role has been advertised for a long time and with multiple agencies as far as I am aware - they have a very strict criteria they are working to. My experience of the recruiters that you are alluding to is not good - you speak with them on the phone (if you are lucky) and then nothing. Maybe others have had good experience of them - but I have not - say it as you see it. Goes back to my rantings on other threads - FEEDBACK please. You have nothing to lose by going for it - fire in a your CV worst thing that can happen is that there is no contact from the agency!

Hopefully of interest to someone on here as I know these positions are very few and far between. An actual health and safety position in South Wales, It is for a company called ACT training. From what I hear, the role has been created as they are due to open a new centre and thus increase thier staff levels. http://www.acttraining.org.uk/staff-vacancies/ Good Luck

Sadly I applied for a similar position with this organisation last year, but did not get it. They ask for IOSH Managing Safely, but even with a NEBOSH Diploma I didn't get anywhere. I got the impression that the Diploma actually went against me. They were not at the time big fans of IOSH, for some reason. Something to do with Tech IOSH entry level. I was not from that particular industry sector and so did not have the experience required which went against me, I think. I could not get any formal feedback, so not sure. Good luck for anyone else that goes for it though.
