Emergency Requirements for a Commercial Kitchen.

Morning all,
If you have a commercial kitchen that has been in place for the last 14 years, does the gas cooking equipment require an emergency stop button?
The company in question have just taken over the premises from a Chinese and now they're turning it into an American Diner.
I'd advised that they needed an emergency stop installing but the cost of installing the emergency device is going to cost £2,000, money they don't have at this present time.
Can anyone advise on the legal requirements.
Best Regards

Hi Barney,
Some kitchens we look after have their gas interlock connected to the fire system, so that if the fire alarm is actuated the ventilation shuts down, which then shuts off the gas suppply. Lizzie
