For a government department that is tasked to protect peoples safety through pro active culture change and reactive investigations to drive home the message that non compliance is not an option The HSE seems to be rolling over to all the Government proposals without a fight leaving it to IOSH and its members to fight a rearguard action and point out the effect of these cost cutting measures My cynical head says... Is this a case of "No, your honour, we firmly believed there was WOMD?" well that all sorted then, arise Sir..... (or Dame in this case)

To be fair to Judith the rot set in before she arrived. I believe things might have been far worse had she not been appointed. I rserve the right to contiue to moan about her however. Its a failing of UK Plc generally, that talk seems far more important than actions. And if you say something long enough and loud enough it becomes a fact. Pity CEOs from public bodies can't be prosecuted when their organisations are responsible for deaths, just like my boss is.

"Worse than vermin" Bevan quote seems to apply even more. I agree with your comments, I think Judith seems at least in public to always welcome any rubbish the government does or says - I suppose she has to. I know I would not say anything negative about my boss in public either. It does seem a bit like a farmer thanking the fox for eating some of his chickens!
