Could anyone let me know please the lifespan of a webbing strap used to secure loads or tie something down? PPE harness has a 10 year lifespan in the packet from date of manufacture, straps used in loading etc don't seem to have anything definative, or am I not looking in the right place? Obviously 12 month visial checks for defects applies but if they are okay do they have an indefinate life?
thanks folks

Sorry I cannot give you a definitive answer.
Have a look on the Internet for en 12195 which covers the strapping you describe. Part 2 I think.
We change ours every 5 years even if there is no visible damage.
I have come across an incident where an operative was tentioning the ratchet and the claw hook failed - there were no apparent warnings signs. Brittle fracture maybe.
