Hi all,
I am considering a job opportunity in Qatar. I will be bringing over my wife and one year old child. I would be interested in hearing personal experience of the qulaity of life specifically for parents with young kids and if you think it is/was worth the move.

That is a good one. I was in Qatar for six (6) years and enjoyed every bit of it. You will surely enjoy it if you follow the rules and respect their custom. Qataris are GENERALLY friendly, amiable and reliable. Once you earn their trust, they can do anything for you but once they find you as something else, you can NEVER regain their trust.
It is a secure place and you have nothing to worry about. However, you can not display affection publicly as you guys do in the UK or other western countries. It is a taboo to kiss in the public or for a lady to dress inappropriately. Good luck.
