re-roofing of a building underneath a 132,000v powerline

Morning all,
I am hoping that someone can give me some advice. I have a project whereby we are replacing an existing asbestos roof. Sounds simple but directly above are a number of 132,000volt power cables running between 2 pylons (these belong to the national grid). there is a safety clearance of approximately 5 meters between the building and the cables
Has anybody had previous experience with works of this kind. Does anybody know of any relevant guidance. I have copies of GS6 and other HSE issued guidance but it is not really applicable to these works.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Jamie, there is no easy answer for this one. You should make contact with the local offices of the National Grid / power company as soon as possible (There should be contact details on the nearest pylons). They may be able to isolate the line for a period (although this is rare, takes a long time to organise and will be very expensive).
I would strongly caution against carrying out any roof work at this location without their guidance and co-operation.

I work for the "national grid" in Ireland.
Please follow the sound advice from PH2 and contact the National Grid before you do anything. GS6 and other documents are just guidance, albeit good guidance. BUT, you need to have specific arrangements agreed for your work. If you cannot get an outage for the lines then you will be working under live HV lines and the risk is that you don't have to actually contact them to have a serious accident, you only need to get close to them to run the risk of a flash over.
Physical measures will likely be required to ensure you cant inadvertently encroach into prescribed safety distances. Ticker tape and bunting wont cut it!
Get the advice of the experts.
