Hi,

We are currently conducting some archiving of records, does anyone know how long the following should be kept for:-

- accident book
- health surveillance records (non-asbestos)

Thank you in advance.

Accident reports should be held for minimum of 3 years from date report was made.

Health surveillance records must be held for 40 years

In addition to Phil's comment, if the accident involves a child, the accident report should be held untill the child is 21 years old, as they have 3 years from their 18th Birthday to make a claim.

Asbestos is not the only substance/agent requiring long term storage - look at the Radiation requirements.

The real problem is that any electronic storage has a fixed life - look at the changes in home PCs
