The company I work for is in the process of updating it's truck fleet. They are articulated trucks for pulling 45ft trailers and double deck trailers. We have always had trucks that were equipped with a high cab roof enabling you to stand up inside the centre of the cab, with the new units they have ordered they have specified the low roof option where you can not stand up even if stood in the passenger side footwell. Drivers are often away from base for 3-4 nights so it's the dressing and undressing and limited space available that concerns us as drivers. Does anyone know of any H&S rules that would help change the minds of the employers. They say it's a cost issue the low roof units are £11 a week cheaper to lease or buy.
